Overview

The Milwaukee 3697-27 M18 FUEL 7-Tool Combo Kit is a cordless power tool combo kit built for contractors and serious users who need a ready-to-work setup for drilling, fastening, cutting, grinding, and jobsite lighting. This is a 7-tool cordless combo kit designed for general construction, remodeling, service work, and daily jobsite use. Model Number: 3697-27. If you want one platform that covers most of the core tasks on a truck or in a shop, this kit is aimed right at that job.

What matters here is not just the tool count. Milwaukee built this kit around its M18 FUEL line, which means the included tools use POWERSTATE brushless motors, REDLINK PLUS intelligence, and REDLITHIUM battery technology. In plain terms, that means stronger performance under load, better runtime, and electronics that help protect both the tool and battery during tougher applications. For a combo kit, that matters because these are not entry-level placeholders. They are the kind of tools many users would buy individually.

The included lineup is broad and jobsite-focused: a 1/2 inch hammer drill/driver for drilling in wood, metal, and masonry; a 1/4 inch hex impact driver for fast fastening; a SAWZALL reciprocating saw for demolition and rough cutting; a 6-1/2 inch circular saw for framing and sheet goods; a 4-1/2 inch / 5 inch braking grinder for cutting and grinding; a 1/2 inch mid-torque impact wrench for automotive and mechanical fasteners; and an LED work light to finish the package. That mix makes this a strong fit for users who move between rough-in, install, repair, and punch-list work.

Several of the tool-specific features are worth calling out because they affect real work. The hammer drill is only 6.9 inches long, which helps when you are drilling between studs, inside cabinets, or overhead where bulk works against you. It also includes Auto-Stop to reduce over-rotation in a bind-up, which is one of those features you appreciate the first time a large bit grabs. The impact driver adds Tri-LED lighting for better visibility at the fastener and uses Milwaukee's trigger control tuning to help with small fasteners where stripped heads and overdriven screws waste time.

The cutting and material-removal tools are chosen with production work in mind. The SAWZALL uses a 1-1/4 inch stroke length, which helps remove more material with each stroke. The circular saw uses a POWERSTATE brushless motor and is positioned as the kit's framing and general cutting saw. The grinder brings a paddle switch, no-lock design, and braking function, which makes it a more practical grinder for fast-paced cutting and grinding work where control matters. On the mechanical side, the mid-torque impact wrench uses 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL with auto shut-off and bolt removal control, giving it better manners around sensitive fasteners and repeat work.

From a jobsite practicality standpoint, Milwaukee did the basics right. You get two REDLITHIUM XC5.0 batteries, a multi-voltage M18 and M12 charger, and two contractor bags, so this is not a pile of bare tools that still needs support gear before it is useful. The LED work light is also not filler. Having light in the same battery platform makes a difference in basements, service calls, late-day punch work, and anywhere power is limited.

System compatibility is another reason this kit makes sense. Everything here is built around the Milwaukee M18 battery platform, and the brand states compatibility across the full M18 cordless system. If you already own M18 batteries, chargers, or other tools, this kit drops right in. If you are starting from scratch, it gives you a strong base with room to expand into specialty tools later without changing battery systems.

Who should buy it? This kit makes the most sense for remodelers, general contractors, electricians, plumbers, maintenance crews, metal stud framers, and serious DIY users who want pro-grade cordless tools without piecing together a set one item at a time. If you only need a drill and impact driver, this is more kit than you need. But if your work regularly jumps from drilling anchors to driving fasteners, trimming framing lumber, cutting pipe, grinding metal, breaking loose bolts, and lighting up a work area, the Milwaukee 3697-27 M18 FUEL 7-Tool Combo Kit is the kind of setup that earns its keep fast.
